High Five to Eton Fives Fun at St Bees School

KateNews & Events, Sports, St Bees School

Thank you to all who joined us for an evening of Eton Fives at St Bees School last Friday 30th June. Great fun had all round, with a mix of those who had played to a competitive level and some beginners. We were delighted that Mark Yates was on hand to give expert tuition, and encourage all to have a go. Mark was here as part of his “Three Peaks Challenge”, which included having to play Eton Fives as close to each peak as possible!

Trudy Harrison, MP for Copeland, also joined in the event, and her husband Keith played several times during the evening. Thank you to them for their enthusiasm and for taking the time to come along and support us.

Hats off to Danny Wang, Managing Director of Full Circle, who only arrived in the village that afternoon – he joined right in and enjoyed the experience of playing this traditional and fast paced game. Laurence Gribble and his father Nick were part of the group, and enjoyed the opportunity of playing on the courts at the school again. So wonderful to see the grounds buzzing!
