Jeremy Hallows is the thirty-second Headmaster of St Bees School and has overall executive responsibility to the management board for the leadership and development of the school.
He brings with him over twenty-five years’ experience in education, most of which have been spent in leading HMC boarding schools. He has worked in senior management positions since 2009 when he served as the Senior Master at Millfield School. He was promoted to deputy headship and subsequently became Head of Senior School for Bromsgrove School. He has experience of every aspect of school life and a particular interest in the influence of educational programmes on pupil aspirations and outcomes.
He has educated children from over 100 different countries in his work to date and has a deep commitment to ensuring the educators at St Bees embrace the unique ideas and perspectives that children can offer as a result of their different national identities.
The Headmaster has served on inspection teams for the Independent Schools Inspectorate since 2011 and has gained invaluable insight into the character of some of the UK’s most prestigious schools through the inspection process.
Mr Hallows is a keen sportsman having played football and cricket to a high level in the past and is fast becoming a passionate golfer on St Bees School’s wonderful private links golf course. He is also a keen musician, having played in a variety of amateur bands over the last thirty years – none of which have delivered the fame and fortune afforded to others.
Jeremy and his wife Donna were at school together in the 1980s and they have four teenage children, a trail-hound called Libby and several other small furry pets.
