The Medical Centre is staffed throughout the school day (8:00am until 5:00pm/ 3:55pm on Fridays) by well qualified staff. The medical staff are able to diagnose and treat minor ailments and injuries and provide medical cover for sports matches.
The school nurse organises routine immunisations for all pupils. Pupils who are ill are either sent home, if parents agree, or they may be able to remain in the Medical Centre where they are looked after by the school nurse.
The nurse and Matrons also provide a valuable counselling service for pupils who are having problems that are more general. Their door is always open. There is also an outside counsellor who is available to pupils. Appointments should be made via the school nurse. The school nurse provides health education informally in the Medical Centre and is involved in PSHE and sex education lessons.
