The Fusion Curriculum is designed to place an equal focus on intellect and emotional intelligence (EQ). All lessons incorporate EQ skills which are embedded in the schemes of work. The school also has a strong emphasis on project-based learning where teachers facilitate learning in a collaborative environment, rather than handing down lessons in a ‘chalk and talk’ format. The aim is to empower pupils to acquire and develop skills, methods and application as opposed to learning facts by rote.
There is a strong emphasis on language and literature. English and Chinese, as the school’s first and second taught languages, offer pupils opportunities for the future. Singapore Mathematics teaching is renowned worldwide for its excellent results and St Bees offers pupils the chance to study via this method of mathematics mastery, underpinned by the belief that every boy and girl has the potential to succeed.
There are also opportunities for project collaboration and exchanges between St Bees and other schools in the Full Circle group.
