The Fusion Curriculum integrates the best of Eastern and Western education, providing an equal focus on intellect and emotional intelligence (EQ). All lessons incorporate EQ skills which are embedded in the schemes of work. The School also has a strong emphasis on Project Based Learning where teachers are the facilitators rather than ‘chalk and talk’ teachers. The focus is on acquiring and developing skills, methods and application rather than pure knowledge.
There is a strong emphasis on language and literature. English and Chinese, as the schools’ first and second taught languages, offer pupils the best opportunities for the future.
Singapore Mathematics teaching is renowned worldwide for its excellent results and St Bees offers pupils the chance to study via this method of Mathematics mastery, underpinned by the belief that every boy and girl has the potential to succeed in Mathematics.
All pupils are expected to take Global Perspectives GCSE which allows pupils to enquire into and reflect upon key global issues from a personal, local, national and international point of view.
There are also opportunities for project collaboration and exchanges between St Bees and other schools in the Full Circle group.
