Here at St Bees School we have our own 15m indoor swimming pool for use by our pupils and also the wider community.

Please note the swimming pool will be closed until 2nd September – a new timetable will be announced soon.

Pool Parties

This is the perfect children’s party and will allow children to enjoy the water as a group under the supervision of our Leisure Team. Please contact for more information. You can book use of the pool here.


Our swimming pool runs a swim academy where learners of all ages can progress through a programme of lessons to become proficient swimmers regardless of their starting ability. The Swim Academy is part of the STA’s (The Swimming Teachers Association) International Learn to Swim Programme. This programme is based on a series of awards ranging from the STARFISH series (designed to introduce your child to the water) to the Platinum Award (combining survival and rescue skills with advanced swimming and water polo).

Octopus Series
Children ages 5 – 8

Goldfish Series
Next stage for swimmers who have progressed through STAnley or Octopus


Angelfish Series
Prepares swimmers to swim 25m unaided, butterfly stroke, entries to water



Shark Series
Educated swimmers in basic water rescue and survival techniques


Advanced Swimmer Series
Develops swimming technique, speed, water polo or synchronised swimming skills

Platinum Award
Combines survival and rescue skills with advanced swimming skills, water polo and synchronised Swimming
