Swimming Teacher – Part Time

An opportunity for a part time swimming teacher has opened up with our leisure team.

Role

To help teach and coach people of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique and confidence in the water.

Main Duties
  • To plan and deliver lessons ensuring adherence to the scheme of work and lesson plans
  • Ensure safe provision of all equipment and ensure it is used correctly
  • Make sure safety standards are followed in sessions and undertake risk assessments
  • Identify participants’ abilities and encourage them to reach their full potential
  • Plan and deliver sessions appropriate to the level of swimmer
  • Provide explanations and demonstrate swimming techniques
  • Correct faults in swimming techniques and identify ways to improve performance
  • To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming
  • Set ground rules for each session
  • To follow NOP and EAP as set out by the pool manager / School
  • Evaluate sessions and give feedback
  • Regularly assess each participant’s ability and progress and arrange for the award of the appropriate certificates
  • To constantly update, manage and complete your registers
  • Organise and supervise assistants and helpers as directed by the Swimming Coordinator
  • Work alongside the Pool manager, other Swimming Teachers to ensure that participants are able to swim in a safe and clean environment
  • To attend regular meetings and monthly training
  • Follow the cleaning, opening and closing procedures
Qualifications & Experience
  • To agree to abide by a code of conduct and carry out duties in accordance with STA policies which are attached, including equal opportunities, safeguarding children, health and safety at work, etc. Qualifications & Experience All swimming teachers/coaches must have achieved, as a minimum, any of the following qualifications.
  • RLSS national pool lifeguard qualification
  • ASA/STA Level 1 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics
  • ASA/ STA Level 1 Certificate for Coaching Swimming Completing a qualification at level 1 will qualify you to support fully-qualified teachers/coaches. Before you can work on your own without supervision you will need to complete one of the following qualifications.
  • ASA/STA Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics
  • ASA Level 2 Certificate for Coaching Swimming (Swimming, Synchronised Swimming, Diving or Water Polo). Sessions may be held in the morning, evening and school holidays.

Food Service Assistant – Part Time

We currently have an opportunity for a Food Service Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join an independent school working environment. The role will also encompass covering reception for 45 minutes each day.

This is a permanent role, working initally 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday covering 12 noon – 3pm term time. As we grow and open our boarding facilities in September 2019, there is the potential for this role to become full time.

Role Responsibility

As a Food Service Assistant you will be responsible for:

  • arranging food and beverage items for the purpose of serving them to students and staff in an efficient manner;
  • the serving of all meals and beverages to staff and students in portions, ensuring great customer service at all times;
  • ensuring that the kitchen and service areas are clean and tidy, assisting with waste removal and washing up;
  • ensuring health and safety regulations are adhered to;
  • completing any administration as requested including food temperatures, wastage and cleaning schedules;
  • to raise any issues, suggestions and complaints to the Headmaster;
  • apply and maintain standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene;
  • reception cover including telephone answering duties and delivering urgent messages.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • a food hygiene certificate;
  • experience in a food service environment;
  • good customer service skills;
  • good communication skills – written and verbal;
  • the ability to demonstrate great team work;
  • work rapidly and efficiently in performing job duties.
